Goyette-Duncan
Nance Goyette-Duncan Class of 1985

Induction Class of 2007
Women's Swimming

The RIT women’s swimming team came into its own in the mid-1980's and one of the reasons for the huge turnaround was the versatile performance of Nancy Goyette-Duncan.  A native of Fairport, N.Y. , she quickly adjusted to the RIT program, and was a solid contributor in the freestyle, butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke events.  As a freshman, Goyette-Duncan earned All-American honors with teammates Kira Alling, Mary Beth Breckenridge and Debbie Dourlain in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.  RIT placed fourth in the 200- (1:43 00) and fifth (3:47 04) in the 400-yard freestyle relays.  At the time, both were school records that have since been broken.  At the NCAA’s, RIT finished 11th in 1981-82 (the first NCAA Division III championship) and equalled the finish in 1983-84.
