Zach Remis will begin his second season as RIT’s head men's and women's tennis coach in 2016-17. In his first season, Remis coached 2016 Liberty League Rookie of the Year, Amelia Ying, on the women’s side, and two All-Liberty League selections on the men’s side, in addition to five victories.
Remis brings a wealth of coaching experience from various spots throughout the United States. Most recently, he served as the Head Tennis Professional at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford. Prior to Locust Hill, Remis served as a teaching pro at Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City, South Dakota, Cedar Tennis Resort in Longboat Key, Florida, and El Gancho Tennis Club in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
From 2002-06, Remis served as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Minnesota, where he trained seven players ranked in the top-100 of the International Tennis Association (ITA). Prior to Minnesota, Remis spent one season at Saint John's (Minn.) University as an assistant and two years at the College of Saint Benedict. He was the interim head coach at Saint Benedict during the 2000-01 season.
Remis earned his bachelor's degree in history from Saint John's (Minn.) University in 1992. In 2006, Remis obtained his master's degree in educational psychology and counseling and student personnel psychology from the University of Minnesota. Remis is also a United States Professional Tennis Association Teaching Professional.
In addition, Remis has spent several years as an academic advisor at the University of Minnesota and Capella University. He currently resides in Rochester and has one daughter, Jessa.
