Sercu led RIT to one of its finest tournament performances in the last decade, placing second overall out of 11 teams at the 2011 Red Dragon Invitational hosted by SUNY Oneonta on Saturday afternoon. Sercu was victorious at 157 lbs., going 5-0 on the day. Sercu seeded fourth, won the 157 weight class championship, defeating the number three seed Irvin Buck of Niagara Community College, 3-1. He won his first match against Nick Smith of Norwich with fall at 0:56 and went on to beat Kyle Hinton of Wilkes 7-1. Sercu then defeated fifth seed Tyler Lauchaire and George Simms III, both of Wilkes, 2-0 and 9-3, respectively.
