Fukuwa helped lead the men's lightweight eight boat to third place in the Head of the Genesee Regatta on Sunday. Fukuwa, a senior, who began his collegiate career as a coxswain, converted to a lightweight rower and broke seven minutes in a 2,000-meter time trial earlier in the week.
"Nate's hard work has come to fruition as an oarsman," said RIT Men's Crew Head Coach Jim Bodenstedt. "He has become a valuable leader and having the experience as a coxswain has helped us bring along first-year coxswain Dan Knorr and raise the skill level, which has impact the lightweight boat tremendously."
