The RIT Women's Varsity 4 brought home the gold medal on Sunday at the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships.

On Saturday both women’s fours finished second in their heat behind Iona College, setting themselves up for the exciting grand final on the Whitney Point reservoir at Dorchester Park. The Lady Varsity Tigers held off a charging Iona Crew to win with a two second lead. Racing in the “Avis” were stroke, Ellen Cretekos, three seat, Sarah Exley, two seat, Jenna Venturini, bow seat, Jenn Kolling, and cox’n, Erin Fredericks. Head Coach Jim Bodenstedt greeted RIT Crew’s first New York State Champions at the landing dock. “These five women made RIT Crew history today," said Bodentsedt. "I couldn’t be prouder. They stuck to the race plan and remained patient all the way through the 2000 meter race. Champions know when to strike. They made the right move at the right time.”
