Murphy was named to the 2005 JP Morgan Chase Scholarship Tournament First-Team All-Tournament Team after leading RIT to the championship game for the first time since the 1999-00 season. Murphy averaged 22.7 points and 8.0 rebounds, while shooting 13-of-22 from 3-point range. On Wednesday, he scored 15 points and added 11 rebounds in a 84-74 win over Roberts Wesleyan. Just two days later, Murphy drained 7-of-10 from behind the 3-point line en route to 25 points, as the #3 Tigers upset the second-seeded University of Rochester Yellowjackets 66-58 in the Chase semi-final. On Saturday night, the 6-4 forward tallied 15 points in a loss to top-seeded and nationally ranked St. John Fisher in the championship game. Murphy currently leads the Tigers in scoring (16.0 points per game) and rebounding (7.0 per contest). His 37 made 3-pointers lead the Empire 8 conference.
