The RIT Tigersharks swimming and diving teams defeated Buffalo State on Saturday. The RIT women defeated Buffalo State's women by a score of 131-94. Scoring 18 points in the victory was Brooke Chornyak.

Chornyak competed in the women’s 500 yard freestyle and 1650 freestyle competitions. Chornyak finished first in the 500 freestyle in 5:47.01 and first in the 1650 freestyle in 19:58.58.

Tigersharks coach Scott Shields said that "Brooke really stepped up and swam well against Buff State. The 1650 is never easy, especialy this early in the season, but Brooke stepped up and put together a great swim." Her effort at this meet truly impressed the coaching staff. Shields added that "with Brooke's leadership and hard work we expect a great season."

The Tigersharks resume action on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the University of Rochester in the Harvest Relays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
