The RIT Women’s track and field team traveled to the University of Rochester’s Fauver Stadium to compete in what turned out to be a long day of record breaking performances at Saturday’s University of Rochester Alumni Invitational The Tigers now undefeated with a 3-0 record, resume Empire 8 action on Tuesday, April 8 as they host cross-town rival Nazareth at 4 p.m.

The highlight performance of the day was Allison Griggs’ throws in the shot put and hammer throw. In the shot put, Griggs threw the shot put 12.96 meters, breaking an eight-year-old school record on her way to a first place finish. In the hammer throw, Griggs threw 46.16 meters, breaking a RIT record on her way to a first place performance. She provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in both events and is currently ninth on the 2003 performance list in the shot put and in the top 20 in the hammer throw. Griggs also placed fifth in the discus, with a 34.37 meter showing.
