The RIT women’s track and field team competed at the Mary Phillips Invitational at Fredonia State on Saturday. The Tigers finished the day in sixth place.
Freshman Allison Griggs (Salem, Conn./East Lyme) finished first in the shot put and shattered her own RIT school record, establishing a new RIT record with a throw of 12.78 meters (41’11.25”). This throw provisionally qualified Griggs to compete in the 2003 NCAA Division III Track and Field Indoor Championships in the shot put. Griggs also finished fourth in the weight throw with a throw of 12.20 meters (40’00.50”).
The Tigers resume competition when they return to the University of Rochester to compete in the U of R Invitational on February 8.
