The RIT women’s basketball was 1-3 this week, suffering losses from the University of Rochester and St. John Fisher, both nationally ranked. Snapping a 15 game losing streak in Empire 8 action, the Tigers defeated Alfred University 58-53 at Clark Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Key to the Tiger’s victory was sophomore center Karli Couchman who displayed a tremendous effort for the Tigers with a game-high 19 points and 11 boards. Couchman's efforts were magnified in establishing an RIT lead in the second half.

RIT resumes action in the JPMorgan Chase Tournament when the number eight Tigers face number one ranked University of Rochester at 6:15 at Brockport on Thursday.
