Murphy helped RIT to a fourth-place finish at the NWCA National Duals (Jan. 6-7). Murphy went 2-0 during the tournament and his pin over No. 10 Brock Henderson helped the Tigers defeat top-seed and No. 8 Coe by a 27-15 score that propelled RIT to its first NWCA National Dual Final Four. While trailing 3-1 in the second period, Murphy countered a leg attack in taking Henderson to his back for the fall. In the third-place tournament match against No. 1 North Central, Murphy was one of three Tigers to win after taking a 10-6 decision over Bradley Rosen.?
