Winters won the title at 157 lbs. at the 2019 New York State Championship. He entered Sunday tied with RIT Hall of Fame member Matt Hamill with 47 career pins. After a win over Destin Morano (SUNY Sullivan) in the first round, Winters set the record with a pin of Kwan Wills (SUNY Oneonta) at 3:43. He went on to pin Zack Brown (SUNY Brockport) in the quarterfinals to give him 49 pins for his career. Winters defeated teammate Austin Lamb (Owego, NY/Tioga), 3-1 in the semifinals, and beat Gianno Silba (SUNY Cortland) 7-0 in the championship bout.
