Martin was a key contributor in RIT's varsity eight winning the Kate Louise Cup for the first time in program history at the Head of the Genesee Regatta on Saturday. The varsity eight stopped the clock at 15:46.36 to claim gold in the Men's Collegiate Eight 18-boat field. The Tigers were 12 seconds ahead of second place Ithaca and the University of Rochester was third.

“James has been doing a very fine job suspending his weight on the oar to move the boat," said RIT head coach Jim Bodenstedt. "His experience this weekend counteracted the few bobbles the crew faced racing today. I am impressed daily with James’ focus and determination to advance the shell’s bow ball to the finish line. He’s been a boat mover this fall.”
