For the second time this season, Whelton smashed the school mark in the heptathlon en route to winning seven-event competition at the ECAC Championships on Friday and Saturday. The winning score of 4,685 points bettered his previous school mark of 4,620, set at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational on Jan. 29. His 4,685 points was the 17th best score in Division III to this season, just missing a berth in the NCAA Championship. Whelton was the top finisher in the 60-meter dash, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run.
