Mayville, who qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2014, showed why in his 2014-15 debut, winning all five of matches as the top seed to claim the championship at 149 lbs at the Monarch Invite. Mayville opened with a pin in 1:17 over Tommy Flynn of Lycoming. In the round of 16, he defeated Larry Courthen of Oneonta State, 5-1 and toppled Daryl Albonico of New York University, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. Mayville then defeated No. 4 seed Matt Coppola of NYU via fall in 6:40 to advance to the championship. Mayville then outlasted No. 2 Seth Lansberry of Lycoming, 6-5 for the title.
