Binnington was tremendous in net for the Tigers, stopping 60-of-62 shots in a road weekend sweep at Robert Morris, who was receiving votes in the USCHO.com Division I national poll. On Friday, Binnington made 29 saves and helped RIT kill off a key five-minute major penalty early in the third period of a 2-1 win over the Colonials. She was named the game’s second star. On Saturday, she was even better, stopping 31-of-32 shots, to be named the game’s first star, as the Tigers upended Robert Morris by the same 2-1 score for RIT’s first ever weekend sweep of a CHA opponent. Binnington has now allowed just one goal in four straight games and is 7-4-2 this season with a 2.08 goals against average and .922 save percentage.
