ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT Freshman forward #Tyler Brenner (Linwood, Ontario/Elmira Sugar Kings)# (Linwood, ON/Elmira Sugar Kings) was named the Atlantic Hockey Association Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 12, 2008.

Brenner scored his fi rst collegiate goal with 15:23 left in the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie and lifting the Tigers to a 2-1 win over Western Michigan. Brenner, picked up a loose puck in the slot, while RIT was on a power-play, deked a defenseman in front of the net and slid a forehand between the legs of Western Michigan goaltender Jerry Kuhn.

RIT returns home this weekend for a pair of games versus ECAC opponents. The Tigers will face Clarkson University on Friday evening at 7:05 pm at Ritter Arena. The following night RIT will host St. Lawrence at Blue Cross Arena, face-off is at 7:05 pm.
