ROCHESTER, NY - Freshman Kaidon Winters (Athens, PA/Athens Area) of the RIT wrestling team was named the ECWC Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, for the week ending Jan. 28, 2018. It is his fifth weekly honor of the 2017-18 season.

Winters won all three of matches at the John Reese Duals hosted by Wilkes University on Sunday. Winters won his first match vs. Keystone via forfeit, he recorded a pair of pins over Wilkes University and Lackawanna College to improve to 14-1 in dual matches.

Winters is now 34-7 overall in 2017-18 with 18 of those wins coming by pin. He is one pin shy of the RIT single-season mark of 19, held by three-time NCAA Champion Matt Hamill.

RIT is off this weekend, but return to action on Saturday, Feb. 10 by hosting the Tiger Duals at Clark Gym.
