ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore Sam Weinger (Blooming Grove, NY/Washingtonville) of the RIT wrestling team, was named the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday for the week ending Dec. 13, 2015. It is Weinger's first weekly honor of the season and third of his collegiate career.

Weinger went 3-0 for the Tigers on the week to improve his season record to 16-5. On Wednesday,
Weinger picked up his team-leading 14th victory of the season, rolling to a 9-4 win over Joe Sprung over No. 2 Ithaca in the final match of the evening at 285 lbs. On Saturday, he defeated Austin Shrewsbury of WPI, 3-0 and defeated Conor O'Neil of Johnson and Wales, 5-4.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 3 as they travel to Lycoming College for the NY/PA Duals. RIT competes against King's College at 1:30 p.m. and host Lycoming at 3:30 p.m.
