Carly Augustyn (Spencerport, NY/Churchville-Chili) and junior (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel)Ashleigh Caruso (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# of the RIT women's lacrosse team were named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District III women's At-Large Team announced on Monday, May 20. Both are now eligible for Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American honors, which will be announced in June.
Augustyn, a biomedical sciences major with an impressive 3.9 GPA, started all 16 games this season tallying 17 points on 14 goals and three assists to go along with 23 ground balls and 10 draw controls. She started all 66 games in her career and earned All-Liberty League Honorable Mention accolades in 2012 Augustyn was named to the 2012 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Academic Honor Roll, as well as a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. For her career, Augustyn has 34 goals, 39 assists, 73 points and 82 ground balls, and was a finalist for RIT Athletic's prestigious Ellinson Award.
Caruso, a diagnostic medical sonography major, played in all 16 games in 2013, tallying 29 points on 22 goals and seven assists, with 17 ground balls. She tallied a season-high four goals versus Geneseo. Her 29 points and 22 goals were a career-best. Caruso is a member of RIT's Dean's List all 8 quarters she's been at RIT. She was a two-time high school academic all-American. Caruso was named to the Liberty League Women's Lacrosse All-Academic selection team and holds a 3.8 grade point average.
RIT finished the 2013 season 10-6 and were 5-4 in Liberty League play.
