Men's track and field finishes tied for 17th at ECAC Championships

RENSSELAER, NY -
The RIT men's track and field squad finished tied for 17th out of 63 teams at the 2012 ECAC Championships hosted by Rensselaer at Ned Harkness Field on Thursday and Friday. The Tigers finished with 17 points, as Bates won the team title with 61 points.

Senior Zach Miller (Ironville, PA/Hempfield) recorded a strong third place finish in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:23.80. Matt Giannino (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) placed eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal best time of 3:53.63.

RIT's 4 x 800-meter relay team of #C.J. Brunner#, Adam Irr (Newfane, NY/Newfane), Giannino#, and John Quatroche (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme) finished fifth in a time of 7:49.08.

On the field side, senior Casey Doty (Holley, NY/Holley) recorded a personal best and just missed a school record in the hammer throw with a tremendous hurl of 55.45 meters.

The Tigers will await a few potential NCAA berths, which will be announced on Sunday.
