Three RIT athletes, one coach earn gold

ROCHESTER, NY - Four current members of RIT Athletics struck gold at the 2010 Empire State Games held in the Buffalo area from July 21-25.  Michael Dempsey of the men's track and field team, Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) of the men's basketball squad, Rachel Zoyhofski (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) of women's cross country, and women's hockey head coach Scott McDonald all won gold medals for the Western squad during the week.

Dempsey, the 2010 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championship runner-up in the pole vault, easily won that event in the open men's category at the Empire State Games.  Zoyhofski won the 5,000-meter race walk in the open women's category, while Terry was a part of the championship men's open squad.  McDonald was the head coach for the scholastic women's hockey team.
