Four men's lacrosse players earn All-American honors

ROCHESTER, NY -- Four members of the RIT men's lacrosse team were named to the 2010 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American team in Tuesday. Senior defenseman Dan MacRae (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity) and junior long-stick midfielder #M.J. Kiekebelt were third team selections. Senior attack (Camillus, NY/West Genesee)Sean Gillies and junior midfielder (Camillus, NY/West Genesee)Jordan MacIntosh# were honorable mention selections.

MacRae, an honorable mention All-American selection in 2009, anchored a Tigers' defense that allowed 8.80 goals per game in 2010. He was named MVP of the Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse Championship and is a two-time first team All-Empire 8 selection (2009 & 2010). MacRae the Tigers with 51 caused turnovers and grabbed 70 ground balls while tallying a goal in 2010.

Kiekebelt, a first team All-Empire 8 selection, recorded 34 ground balls in eight regular season conference games. He was second on the team with 91 ground balls and second on the squad with 48 caused turnovers. The long-stick midfielder also contributed offensively, tallying 14 points on 11 goals and three assists.

MacIntosh, who was named Empire 8 Co-Player of the Year, helped lead the Tigers to the Empire 8 title and a trip in the NCAA quarterfinals. He finished the 2010 season third on the team in scoring with 53 points on 36 goals and 17 assists. He scored two game-winning goals this season and picked up 38 ground balls. He scored 11 goals in regular season conference play in just four games, and added five goals and three assists in the Empire 8 tournament.

Gillies received first-team All-Empire 8 honors after scoring a conference-high 24 goals in regular season play. He led the Tigers in scoring with 60 points on 50 goals and 10 assists. He scored six man-up goals and three game winners this season.
