ORLANDO, FL - The RIT softball team (7-3) concluded its highly successful Florida trip on Thursday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games. The Tigers opened the day by defeating St. Benedict in the opening game, 6-0, then fell to York (Pa.) 6-0 in the finale.
In the opener, RIT hurler
Carlissa Cole (Alden, NY/Alden) earned her fourth win of the season, allowing just two hits, while striking out five batters in the complete game effort. AT the plate, she also walked three times.
Jen Hayden (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Tori Nadow (Charlton, MA/Shepherd Hill) was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Brittney Lavoie (Plattsburgh, NY/Ticonderoga) was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.
In game two,
Shannon McCormick (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was 2-for-3 with a sacrifice. Megan O'Connell was 1-for-3, while
Arielle Link (Weston, CT/Weston) was 1-for-2.
On the mound,
Brittany Kemp (Dansville, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) took the loss, throwing four innings. Cole pitched the final three innings.
RIT is off until March 25, when they host Rochester in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
