Men's Basketball Loses to Oneonta in Brodie Finals

Carson and Young Named to All-Tournament Team

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's basketball team lost a hard-fought game to SUNY Oneonta, 72-66 in the championship game of the 23rd annual Harold J. Brodie Tournament. RIT's Mark Carson (Voorheesville, NY/Voorheesville) (Voorheesville, NY) and Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell) (Almond, NY/Hornell) were named to the all-tournament team.

Carson finished with a game-high 22 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. It was his sixth double-double in seven games this season.

Young, held scoreless in the first half, rebounded with 11 second-half points. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists.

The Tigers shot poorly in the first galf, going 8-for-24 from the floor shooting 33.3 percent. Carson had 12 of RIT's 24 points and had nine rebounds.

RIT trailed by as many as 10 points early in the second half but rallied to take the lead on a jumper by Marcus Lowe (Anchorage, AK/Service) (Anchorage, AK/Service) with a little over 11 minutes remaining.

The Tigers extended their lead to five points on a layup by Carson at the 10:15 mark and held the lead until the 5:42 mark when Maurice Lane's layup gave the Red Dragons the lead for good.

Oneonta's Brian Hooks, the tournament's MVP, made some critical three-pointers down the stretch finishing with 12 points.

Adam Sweet (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY) scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor. #Nate Korinchak (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville)# (Strongsville, OH) scored eight points and dished out 11 assists. He also had four steals. Marcus Lowe (Anchorage, AK/Service) had five points off the bench.

The Tigers are off until January 2 when they face Empire 8 rival Utica College at 8 pm.
