ROCHESTER, NY – Tom and Susan Sheridan, parents of former RIT baseball player, Brian Sheridan, have made a significant gift to the RIT Athletics Department and baseball program.

Their gift helped support the purchase of technology platforms that will help the baseball program with player skill development.

"Our motivation was to provide the technology and tools to build on the success the baseball program has seen the last few years," said Tom and Susan Sheridan. "We look at this as more than just and athletic gift. Utilizing the baseball program as the foundational partner, this is a chance to help create a sustainable and scalable model to engage the entire campus community in learning through athletics."

Sheridan was a pitcher on the RIT baseball team from 2014-17 appearing in 43 games recording seven wins. He was a three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection for maintaining a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average.

"Our dream is to see future opportunities created for educational collaborations with Saunders, Kate Gleason College of Engineering, College of Health Sciences and Technology, MAGIC Center and other campus partners to be able to create unique learning opportunities to engage students who share a love of sports with our student-athletes," said the Sheridans.

Along with the Sheridan Family gift, RIT recently renovated its Auxiliary Gym with an artificial surface, and permanent netting for five cages.

"The newly renovated Auxiliary Gym has been a significant asset to our intercollegiate athletics program by providing a venue which serves multiple purposes and teams with high quality space for individual and team skill development," said RIT Executive Director for Athletics, Lou Spiotti. "The Sheridan gift now allows us to maximize that space with state of the art technology which provides our baseball student athletes with an experience that few other schools at our level can provide. We are grateful for this generous contribution."
