ROCHESTER, NY – Junior defenseman
Brady Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers) of the RIT men's hockey team, earned 2016-17 Atlantic Hockey Second Team All-Conference honors, as the league announced its all-conference teams on Thursday, March 9. It is the third straight season Norrish has earned All-Conference plaudits.
Norrish joins RIT Athletics Hall of Famer Dan Ringwald as the only player in the Division I era to be a three-time All-Atlantic Hockey selection. He was named to the All-Rookie Team and was a second team selection in 2014-15 and earned third team honors in 2015-16. He is the tenth different RIT defenseman to earn all-league accolades in 11 seasons.
Serving as one of RIT's three captains, Norrish was well on his way to setting career-highs in scoring before suffering two injuries that limited him to just one game during the 2017 calendar year. Norrish appeared in 21 games, recording a goal and 15 assists, while playing at a plus-7, while usually matched up against the opponent's top scorers. Despite missing 16 games, Norrish was third among all RIT defensemen in scoring. He led all Atlantic Hockey defensemen with 0.93 points per game in league play and was 11th overall in scoring among all blue liners despite missing half the league season.
On Oct. 28, Norrish tied his career-high with three assists in a win over Niagara. In addition, he had back-to-back two assist efforts in a sweep at Niagara on Dec. 2-3. Norrish tallied 15 points in his first 16 contests of the season and was a two-time Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
In three seasons at RIT, Norrish has 11 goals, 43 assists, 54 points, and is plus-17 in 99 career games.
RIT, the 2010, 2015, and 2016 Atlantic Hockey Champions, finished the 2016-17 season with 14 wins and advanced to the First Round of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament.
