ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Jess Calzolari (Longmont, CO/Mead) of the RIT women's track and field team, was named the 2016-17 Liberty League Indoor Field Athlete of the Year on Monday, March 20.
 
Calzolari enjoyed a tremendous indoor season, competing at the NCAA Championship in the pentathlon. This season, Calzolari broke RIT indoor records in the high jump (1.61 meters) and triple jump (11.42 meters). She was also the 2017 Liberty League Field Performer of the Championship meet at the Gordon Field House on Feb. 11, leading the Tigers to their first league title. Calzolari won the triple jump, long jump, was second in the 60-meter hurdles, and fourth in the high jump at the Liberty League Championship.
 
Calzolari was named to the USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region team in the pentathlon, having recorded 3,234 points at the NYSCTC Championships on Feb. 24. She was a three-time Liberty League Indoor Athlete of the Week in 2016-17.
 
Calzolari and the Tigers begin the 2017 Outdoor Track and Field Season on Saturday, April 1 at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational.
