ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore
Hailey Burkhart (Underhill, VT/Mt. Mansfield Union) of the RIT women's track and field squad, earned 2013-14 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team honors on Thursday, July 31.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by
TFRRS.org.
Burkhart enjoyed a tremendous season for RIT in 2013-14, breaking her own school record twice in the heptathlon, recording the 30th best mark in Division III with a score of 4,304 at the ECAC Championships. She was second in that event at the ECAC's. Burkhart won the heptathlon at the 2014 NYSCTC Championships with a score of 4,100. In addition, Burkhart placed second in the 100-meter hurdles at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships with a time of 15.68 seconds. She also recorded a season-best toss of 36.80 meters in the javelin at the ECAC Championships.
