Men's and women's track and field teams garner 2014 USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic honors

ROCHESTER, NY - Both the RIT men's and women's track and field teams received United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2013-14 Division III All-Academic honors on Monday, July 28. A total of 93 men's and 158 women's institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.1 or better.  The men's team has earned this prestigious honor seven times in the last eight years, while the women were selected for the fourth straight season.

Prinicipa College reported the best cumulative team GPA (3.63) among Division III men's programs. Amherst College (3.55) and Goucher (3.53) were among the top three. RIT had a cumulative GPA of 3.12. The NESCAC led all conferences with eight teams named as All-Academic. The SCIAIC. UAA, and MIAC each had seven schools on the list. Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and Vassar joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.

The leading cumulative team GPA among Division III women's programs was also Principia at 3.75. Cal Tech (3.67) and Pomona-Pitzer (3.63) were second and third, respectively. RIT recorded a strong 3.34 GPA in 2013-14. The MIAC led all conferences with 10 teams who earned All-Academic honors. The NESCAC was second with nine, while the SCIAC and NEWMAC were each represented with eight schools each. Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and Vassar joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.
