One of the unsung heroes of RIT's soccer dynasty in the 1980s was midfielder V.J. Penisse. Under the tutelage of Doug May, the native of Henrietta, N.Y., helped the Tigers post a 58-7-7 four-year record, including a 57-game unbeaten streak. A third team All-American in 1987, Penisse garnered RIT Senior Athlete of the Year honors the following spring. He was named All-New York State and All-Empire Athletic Association three times and earned RIT All Tournament plaudits three straight years. During his career, RIT captured four EAA titles. Penisse tallied 26 career points at his midfield slot.
