Few can equal Ushi Patel as a student-athlete. Twice the native of San Jose, Calif., was named Academic All-American; and in 1999 she was the NCAA College Division Academic All-American of the Year with a 3.82 grade point average. In four years of volleyball she accumulated an astonishing 7,014 assists, setting the NCAA record. In 1999 the RIT Senior Athlete of the Year set the national single season mark with 1,924 assists. During her career RIT competed in four NCAA championships and won one New York State title. She capped off her career as an All-American in 1999 and was selected WHAM Radio College Sportswoman of the Year. Four times she was All-Northeast Region and All-League. During her career she was named to 26 All-Tournament teams with seven MVP honors.
