Ted Solarek was one of RIT’s all-time great golfers, He was a member of undefeated teams in 1962 and 1963. Ted won 23 straight matches and played in two NCAA championship tournaments. Solarek posted an impressive 25-1-1 career record with his lone loss coming in his senior season. He tied for 44th in the 1964 NCAA championships, posting a score of 232, helping the Tigers to a 12th place finish. RIT’s first year of NCAA competition came in 1962 and included all divisions, with Jack Nicklaus of Ohio State winning the individual title. Solarek graduated in 1964 with his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He created “Meet the Coaches Night” to introduce freshmen to their future coaches and teammates. Solarek joined the Air Force with tours in France, Germany, New Mexico, Philippine Islands and Northern California.
