From Fairport, N.Y., Shelby Vakiener was unique, playing three sports at RIT (2009-13). She excelled in lacrosse and soccer and also played basketball. A lacrosse midfielder, Shelby earned Rookie of the Year and first team All-Conference honors her freshman season. Twice team captain, she went on to earn three league Player of the Year honors. She also led the league in scoring three seasons, along with garnering three All-American plaudits. She holds 13 school records, including a phenomenal 351 career points. She is the all-time leader in goals, assists, points and draw controls. In soccer, Shelby played defense and set the school record, appearing in 75 games, where she tallied 13 points and was named All-League in 2013. She ended her career being named RIT Senior Female Athlete of the Year.
