Robert Klos, a native of Rochester, made his mark on RIT athletics not only on the basketball court, but as an administrator as well. The two-time team captain played three seasons for the cagers and scored 513 points, averaging 10.1 points and five rebounds per game. In 1958, Klos founded the RIT Club Golf team and became the head coach when the sport attained varsity status. Under his tutelage, the golf team won 30 consecutive matches and participated in two NCAA Tournaments. Klos also was the Vice President of the RIT President’s Club. The business management major was a member and later, an advisor to the Theta Xi fraternity. Klos also served as assistant athletic director, intramural director and assistant soccer coach. In 1964, Klos and his wife Alice purchased Sugar Creek Glen campgrounds in Dansville, N.Y., which they operated for 28 years.
