The name of Bob Costanza will long be remembered in the RIT tennis world. In four years of varsity competition, Costanza set three school records and established an enviable win streak of 31 straight matches. The Fairport, N.Y. native was twice named Athlete of the Year in 1966 and 1967. He won his first five matches as a freshman, lost the next and then put together the string of 31 consecutive victories. Costanza held RIT tennis records for most wins in a career (37) and most wins in a season (10). The 31 straight wins is still a RIT record. Costanza’s best campaign came in his senior year when he posted a 12-0 dual record.
