Paul Ruston was one of RIT’s most prolific long distance runners in the history of the program. The 1986 Senior Athlete of the Year was a three-sport All-American, earning honors in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track and field. In cross country, Ruston was a six-time RIT Athlete of the Week and was a 1985 All-American. He earned All-ICAC and New York State honors three times. In track, Ruston was a three-time All-American in the 5,000-meter run, finishing as high as second place nationally in 1985. He held 10 RIT track records and was a four-time athlete of the week. Ruston graduated in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in photo management.
