RIT football was fortunate to have Paul Isbell. A premier defenseman from Danbury, Conn., Isbell played three seasons with the Tigers. Two years after receiving his bachelor’s degree, Isbell drowned in a tragic boating accident near his home in Danbury. In his memory, the RIT Senior Male Athlete of the Year Award bears his name. An aggressive player, Isbell saw duty at defensive end and middle guard. In three seasons, Isbell made 319 tackles, including a phenomenal 28 tackles against St. Lawrence in 1974. Isbell was named to the ECAC Weekly All-Star Team three times in his storied career. Isbell served as captain his senior year and set numerous defensive records.
