In two years with RIT track and field (2009-11), Mike Dempsey was an impressive pole vaulter, capturing four All-American honors in indoor and outdoor competition. The native of Gates, N.Y. was second in the 2010 indoor and outdoor NCAA Division III Championships. In the other two championships he placed fifth and seventh. He won numerous pole vault events, including two titles at the prestigious Penn Relays, four in the ECACs, three in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championships and three at the Empire 8 Championships. Other titles came at the New Balance Indoor Championships, and Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. Additionally, Mike placed second in the 2011 NYSCTC Outdoor Decathlon Championships. He was named 2010 NCAA Division III Track and Field Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year.
