For 28 years, Meredith Ray has interacted with thousands of student-athletes at RIT. In her role as an interpreter for the deaf, Meredith is coordinator of RIT Interpreting Services for the Center for Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation. The center encompasses Intercollegiate Athletics, Physical Education, Intramurals, Recreation and Wellness. Among her duties, the native of Huntington, West Va. has been assigning interpreters for the deaf to intercollegiate athletic events. Most often she also interprets at one of the activities. She has interpreted for most of RIT’s 24 varsity sports. In 1997 she received the Coaches Appreciation Award for outstanding contributions and service to Intercollegiate Athletics. In 2002-03 she was recipient of the Outstanding Interpreting Award from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. She received her bachelor’s degree from Marshall University.
