One of the top distance runners in program history, Matt Giannino left RIT a four-time All-American while six of his marks remain team records. The Syracuse, N.Y. native was Co-Senior Male Athlete of the Year. He was also named the Liberty League Runner of the Year on six occasions, including a sweep of cross country, indoor and outdoor honors in 2014-15. During the 2014 indoor track and field season, Matt posted personal bests in the 3,000 (8:13.99) and 5,000 meters (14:14.85). Those times ranked him among the top 10 in Division III program history. Additionally, Matt was Liberty League Athlete of the Week 23 times. His cross country career featured an All-American 35th-place finish at the 2014 NCAAs after winning the Atlantic Regional Championships, and his second consecutive Liberty League title. He ran to a pair of All-America finishes at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships, placing sixth in the 5,000 and seventh in the 3,000 meters. He was also named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Track and Cross Country Athlete of the Year. Matt anchored the RIT distance medley relay that placed an All-American seventh at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships.
