Jim Kunz was the first golfer at RIT to earn All-American honors. The Webster, N.Y. native played golf for three seasons at RIT and competed two years with the basketball team. He led the golf team in overall average for four of his six campaigns. Kunz posted three undefeated season, including spring and fall, winning 23 matches. His best season average was 72.4 in the spring of 1970. He boasts a career record of 41 wins, two losses and one tie. His lowest score as a Tiger was a 67, carded at Brook-Lea Country Club in 1967. His All-American honor came in 1970 when he finished 10th at the NCAA College Division Championships. In 1968 Kunz won the Brook-Lea Invitational and tied for medalist honors in the ECAC qualifier. In 1970 he placed third in the ECAC Championships. Kunz also scored 233 points in two seasons for the Tiger basketball team, averaging eight points per game.
