Jerry O’Dell graduated from Eisenhower College in 1982. He was Eisenhower’s finest track athlete. O’Dell, who competed in the decathlon, set indoor and outdoor track records and won championships in the Private College Athletic Conference, NAIA District 19, AAU, NCAA Division III and the Empire State Games. O’Dell set nine outdoor and two indoor track records at Eisenhower College. He holds outdoor records in the high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot javelin, discus, triple jump, 400-meter hurdles, and 110-meter high hurdles. O’Dell set indoor records in the 55-meter high hurdles and the high jump. He holds records in the decathlon with 6,874 points and pentathlon with 3,430 points. O’Dell was Eisenhower’s first NCAA All-American in 1981, and was awarded Eisenhower’s five star letter award in 1982. He was named MVP each of his four seasons with the team.
