One of the top defensemen in men’s hockey program history, Jerry Galway enjoyed a standout career from 1997-2002. Attesting to his prowess, Jerry earned three first team All-American honors and became only the second player in RIT history to be named NCAA Division III Player of the Year by the AHCA in 2002. He was also a two-time ECAC Player of the Year. The Mississauga, Ontario native finished with 164 points on 46 goals and 118 assists, and still ranks first in team history for assists by a defenseman. With Galway on the roster, RIT posted a 98-11-10 record and made four NCAA Division III tournaments, including two quarterfinal appearances in 1997-98 and 2001-02, a semifinal appearance in 1998-99 and the finals in 2000-01. The Tigers also won Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) titles in 1998-99, 2000-01 and 2001-02. He missed the 1999-00 season due to injury. Jerry was named first team All-ECAC three times. In the 2001-02 championships he was named to the All-Tournament Team. Additionally, Jerry received several post-season honors. In 1997-98 he won the Craig Lauzon Award, named in memory of the former RIT skater. In 2000-01, he received the Art Thomas Award, recognizing his comeback from injury. And in 2001-02, he was recipient of the Fans Choice Award.
