Named Senior Athlete of the Year in 1992, Jennifer (Polo) Sheehan made an impact on RIT intercollegiate athletics during her four-year career. She was a four-year volleyball starter and played one season of softball, majoring in industrial engineering. She was a multi-faceted volleyball player, serving as the setter her first year and moving into a hitting role the latter stages of her career. She was a two-time All-American and garnered All-Region honors three times. During her career, the team posted a 169-33 mark and participated in three NCAA Division III championships where they lost in the first round each year. Her accolades were numerous. In 1990 she earned first team All-American honors and garnered second team plaudits in 1991. She was a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Northeast Region selection from 1989 to 1991 and a four-time All-Empire Athletic Association (EAA) selection, winning first team honors three times. RIT won four conference titles. In NYSWCAA Tournament competition, she was named to the All-Tournament Team four times. Twice team captain, Sheehan competed in three NCAA playoffs. In her four seasons RIT posted impressive records of 49-11, 38-10, 38-9, and 44-3. In softball she played one season and garnered All-Northeast Region honors at first base as the team posted an 8-13 record before being sidelined with injury.
