James "Mo" Modrak set an outstanding example of consistent wrestling with 30 wins, one loss and one draw. In his first three years, Modrak was undefeated. Modrak’s only loss came in his senior year when he was injured in the second match and sidelined the remainder of the year. Modrak was the first RIT wrestler to win a major collegiate tournament. Named Athlete of the Year in 1957, he captained the squad his junior year and served as assistant coach for the 1958-59 campaign. In 1959, Modrak established wrestling at the University of Rochester.
