Francis J. Beaty played three seasons of basketball for the Mechanics Institute and captained the squad his senior year. In his junior and senior campaigns he averaged 14 points per contest. Three times he topped 20 points in a contest. Beaty competed at RIT from 1938-41 and went on to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Rochester Royals. He helped the Royals win the 1946 NBA title.
