Doug May, the most successful men’s soccer coach in the history of RIT athletics, coached the Tigers from 1980-95 and led his teams to 11 NCAA appearances. His teams reached the semifinals four times and the National Championship game in 1988, where they fell to UC-San Diego. The native of King Ferry, N.Y. compiled an outstanding 195-56-24 record during his tenure at RIT. From 1983-87, the Tigers held a 57-game unbeaten streak in regular season contests. May was named the 1989 National Division III Coach of the Year. He was an eight-time EAA and four-time New York State Coach of the Year as well. His teams won the 1991 and 1995 ECAC Championships. May coached nine All-Americans, 47 New York State All-Stars and 106 All-EAA players. The Tigers won seven consecutive EAA titles and held a 38-game conference unbeaten streak under his tutelage.
