Born in Kumasi, Ghana, David Chachu had an outstanding men’s tennis career at RIT, playing for head coach Ann Nealon. He was named Empire 8 Player of the Year and RIT Senior Athlete of the Year in 2005. Four times, Chachu garnered All-Conference honors. He also set the school career mark with 48 wins from 2002-2005. In 2005, Chachu guided RIT to the Empire 8 Championship. Chachu also holds school records with 15 singles wins in a season (twice) and 13 doubles victories in 2005. During his career, RIT posted a 35-17 dual record, including an 11-2 mark in 2005. Chachu, a civil engineering major, is the only men’s tennis player in RIT history to reach the finals of the International Tennis Association Championships.
