Dave Kosowski and record setting naturally went together, as his achievements are almost unbelievable. During three varsity cross country campaigns, Kosowski led RIT to a 45-10 mark and helped guide RIT to a 31-0 dual meet record in track and field. As a sophomore, Kosowski won 17 cross country races, setting 14 course records. Altogether he captured 46 races and was Outstanding Runner and an All-New York State selection three straight years. Kosowski was a part of the special relay team, which ran from Washington, D.C. to RIT to help dedicate the new campus. In track, Kosowski is a former record holder in 12 varsity events. In cross country, he held the NCAA record for most wins in a year (21). In 1970, Kosowski was named Athlete of the Year.
